International Whaling Commission [IWC] Reflection (Powerpoint)

After seeing this powerpoint I saw that this company is doing a lot of effort to protect whales. When I saw that they are putting laws so that people don't kill whales makes me happy and I think that if everyone would have thought the same way a thousand years ago there would still be millions of whales available in the sea for everyone. If the IWC keeps up the good work of protecting whales, in the end when there are a lot of whales and people really need them everyone will thank the IWC for protecting the whales when no one saw how much they had to be protected. The IWC is a great company and I know that the whales are going to survive if they keep on trying to save the whales. They also say a very important thing that impacted me a lot and that was when they mentioned that the web will be destroyed if whales are extinct. This means that if whales are extinct a web that connects all living organisms will start to decompose little by little until it is destroyed completely and that will lead to human extinction too. This is important to know because this is what most impacted me and motivated me to want to protect whales.

History of Whaling Reflection (powerpoint)

In this powerpoint I learned a lot about the history of whaling because it said how it began and why it began and what it gave humans. I believe that the fact that humans killed whales for candles was ridicules because it made no sense that humans would kill such and amazing creatures like whales just to make a little candle. It also shows how poor the technology was before because I can see how desperate they where to get light. It is also really painful to see the pictures of all the whales killed, just to know that japanese people kill whales for experiments and for people to eat them makes me sick.

Group Work Reflection

For me it was really nice to be able to do work with my group in a website that everyone saw what everyone wrote a second after they wrote it. I liked it because when we wrote something or some one else wrote it we could comment on it. I also liked it because it is a way to do a lot of work in a small amount of time since eveerybody was working in the same paper simultaneously and I believe we did a great job.

Trip Reflection

The Samana whale trip was really cool and nice. I liked that trip because I had never seen in my life whales and when I saw them I was impressed. It was also really fun because we had a lot of time to do many things and to play with our friends. After being in the boat I think that Kim Baddel and her business is really complex and they have a great business going on there and if they keep on going and have all that care they have for whales they can win a lot of money. I believe the Samana whale trip is very fun and can teach you a lot of things and as much as it impacted me, it will and has impacted many other people.

400 word Reflection

"What is man without the beasts?
If all the beasts were gone, men would die from loneliness of spirit.
For whatever happens to the beasts happens to man.
All things are connected..."
Write a personal reflection of approximately 400 words on the theme found in Chief Seattle's quote, the movie "Star Trek: The Voyage Home" and the video.

I believe that the theme of these videos and the quote is something very important that many humans fail to see. The theme states that everything is connected. It makes you see how humans cannot live alone, and how we are all entangled in the middle of the web. Most humans do not believe in this. They don’t believe that things are dependent of one another. Many humans believe in the independence of their species so they fight the idea within themselves. Some deeply want to believe that they don’t have to be a part of the web. So they fight this connection with anything around them. However, it is just a lie. It is impossible to survive without other things around us.

After carefully analyzing this idea I really believe that it is important to talk to people about this subject and make them believe it. We need to make people aware of the fact that the entire world population is at risk. We need to stop the destruction of the web. All living things should be cared for and protected. It will be the only way that the world population will survive. The video is a great way to start making people aware of this interconnection among us. It is not just a cartoon video with talking animals, they will understand the message it is sending and will most likely impact their way of thinking of the web and other living organisms apart from humans.

I think that this is one of the most important videos by far that I have seen in my whole entire life and it is not only very convincing but it is also very important and needs to be spread around the world. In the movie Star Trek there is also a message of interconnection. It shows people how important whales can be in the future even though it is demonstrating it in a unrealistic way. It tells us that in the future probably whales and any other species might be extinct and when we most need them they will not be here for us to use them. Animals and trees are a really big part of our lives and people don’t seem to realize that. Without animals and trees the web is broken and life existence as it is in danger. But still at the end the message is clear, it doesn’t matter how intelligent you are, how powerful or how useful, every single living organism in the world is important for our own individual survival.

Exoploding Whale

I think that that video about the exploding whale is very interesting because it tells us that we could not explode a whale if it comes to sea shore. It is also very important because if we do so allot of people can get hurt.
